What the calculator is doing
For standard custom-order relationships, flap-to-rough-opening adds 2 inches to width and 1⅜ inches to height. Rough-opening-to-tip-to-tip adds 1¼ inches to both dimensions. The cover relationship is rough-opening width minus 1⁄16 inch and height plus ⅛ inch. Tunnel-rivet build dimensions subtract ¼ inch from the measured actual rough opening.
Use this as a planning and order-entry aid. Custom production dimensions should always be reviewed against the selected model, installation surface and final opening before an order is released.

Which dimension should I enter first?+
Enter the measurement you actually know: flap opening, rough opening, tip-to-tip frame, cover size or measured tunnel-rivet opening. Do not rename one dimension as another just to make the calculator work.
Can I use this for an existing hole?+
Yes, but choose the measured opening basis that matches the existing hole. Existing holes should be checked against the model family and full frame clearance before ordering.
Does a custom flap opening equal the rough opening?+
No. The calculator uses the standard relationships between flap opening, rough opening, frame tip-to-tip and cover dimensions so each label stays attached to the correct measurement.
Should I round custom measurements?+
Use the most accurate decimal measurement you can collect, then review the final production dimensions before ordering. Small rounding errors can matter on a made-to-order product.
When should I contact support instead of using the calculator alone?+
Contact us when the opening is older, out of square, extra deep, glass-related, previously cut, or when the pet needs a nonstandard width-height relationship.
Can I cut before the custom order is confirmed?+
No. Custom production dimensions should be confirmed against the exact product, surface and pet before any permanent cut is made.
